The National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to recognize those students who have demonstrated excellence in the four NHS pillars of
scholarship, service, leadership, and character.
Eligibility Requirements
After completion of 5 or 7 semesters at MCHS, students with a cumulative grade point average of 4.875 or higher, will be invited to apply for membership in NHS. Students who choose to apply for membership will then be evaluated by the NHS Faculty Council which meets to review all submitted candidate applications and selects only those students who have demonstrated strengths in all four pillars of the National Honor Society. All students who are selected by the Council will be inducted into the chapter at an induction ceremony to be held in late February or early March.
Maintaining Membership
In order to continue membership in the MCHS chapter of the National Honor Society, a student must maintain the minimum 4.875 grade point average through all remaining semesters. Students must also complete a minimum number of service hours (10 during junior year and 31 during senior year). A specified number of hours must be completed through our NHS Chapter service project, ICARE International. Students must also continue to be leaders in their school and community while always demonstrating outstanding character.
